55 and wanting to stay a live
I guess that's why we are all here...we want to not only stay alive but live life to the fullest! I know I was just in survival mode for many years thinking some day things will change.
NOT! It wasn't until my NP suggested wls and I found this site and these wonderful people here to educate me. I'm pre-op waiting for my insurance to approve lap rny. I'll be praying for you as you take that big step to a better life.
Please know that you are not alone and we will be here for you.
Take care,
Alice

Congratulations on having your surgery date and sooo soon, too! Please stay in touch so that we can get to know you.
I retired from my full time job in June of this year and decided that I wanted to have the surgery for myself. I feel good about having more energy, my health is improving with lower blood pressure and lower blood glucose levels. For once, I look forward to going to the doctor in December - just to see how my labs are looking. Hopefully I will be off the BP med. I was taking 3 pills a day for my diabetes, but now only take one in the morning. So things have definitely improved. My BP has been 110/60 and my glucose levels have not been greater than 92 since surgery.

Welcome!
Yes, many folks feel nervous before surgery of any type. And WLS brings a lot of lifestyle changes that can be a big challenge.
I had lap-band surgery at age 54 - I'm 55 now - and it was one of the smartest things I ever did for myself. I feel better now than I did 30 years ago!
If you have any questions, just let me know. And visit the OH lap-band forum sometime. Lots of wisdom, experience, and fellowship there. Here's a link: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/a,messageboard/boa rd_id,5359/
Good luck with your surgery!
